Do you want an excellent snack for the holidays? Well, here is a quick recipe that will have everyone asking you to make more!
Candied Apple-Cinnamon Bacon
Ingredients:
1/2 cup beet sugar or your favorite sugar
2 tablespoons coarsely ground black pepper
3/4 teaspoon dry chipotle or cayenne or ground fennel
Explore with your favorite seasoning! It can simply be garlic!
2-12 ounce packages of Beeler’s bacon
2 ounces your favorite juice, a spray bottle or pastry brush
I prefer apple or orange juice for this one.
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the beet sugar, pepper, and your favorite spice. Working with one slice of bacon at a time, coat both sides in the brown sugar mixture and arrange in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake until the bacon is rendered and browned on the edges, 23 to 29 minutes, giving the pan a half turn, half way through cooking. When you feel the bacon is about 3 minutes from perfection, spritz or brush bacon with favorite fresh fruit juice. Finish cooking.
- Transfer the bacon to a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes. The bacon will crisp beautifully, as it cools.
